Staff and community take on Warrington Running Festival for WHH Charity
Wednesday 23 September 2026
There was plenty of energy, enthusiasm and community spirit in Warrington on Sunday 20 September, as 50 members of our staff and local community took part in the Warrington Running Festival, running for WHH Charity.
Participants took on a choice of 5K, 10K and half marathon challenges, with runners of all abilities coming together to support WHH Charity and help make a difference to patients, families and staff across our hospitals and community services.
It was a brilliant day of celebration, with a fantastic atmosphere throughout the festival, live music and plenty of support from spectators cheering runners across the finish line.
A huge congratulations to everyone who took part, whether you were tackling your first 5K, pushing yourself through a 10K or taking on the challenge of a half marathon.
Thank you to everyone who ran, fundraised, cheered from the sidelines and helped make it such a memorable day. Your support helps WHH Charity fund the extras that make a real difference to patients, families and our staff.
“It was great to get the team together and take part, even though we were split across the three distances. We could still cheer each other on and support one another. I’m not naturally a runner and have some old rugby injuries, so getting my 10K under an hour was my goal. Finishing in 57 minutes was a really proud moment, and I was more than happy to support WHH Charity and the great projects it funds for our staff and patients.”

“The atmosphere was electric on the day. Everyone was so supportive as we made our way around the course, with children giving us high fives and people shouting ‘well done’ and clapping us on. Reaching the finish line and being handed our medals, knowing we had raised £562 for WHH Charity, meant so much to us. It was a really rewarding experience to be part of an event that brought people together while raising money that directly benefits staff and local communities.”

Next stop: Alton Towers
If watching the runners has inspired you to take on a challenge of your own, WHH Charity's next running event is at Alton Towers in November.
The event combines a unique running challenge with a day out at the UK's biggest theme park, giving participants the chance to run, fundraise for WHH Charity and enjoy the rides and attractions afterwards.
Whether you're an experienced runner or simply looking for a new challenge, it's a great opportunity to get involved and support your local hospitals and community services.
