First-time marathon runner raises more than £600 for Willow Tree Hub Appeal
Wednesday 14 October 2026
Mike Ryder has raised more than £600 for Warrington and Halton Hospitals’ Charity after completing his first marathon in support of a dedicated space for families affected by baby loss.
Mike took on the Chester marathon on Sunday 11 October to raise money for the Willow Tree Hub Appeal, which is raising £200,000 to help create a dedicated space at Warrington Hospital for families who have experienced baby loss.
The planned Willow Tree Hub will provide a calm, private environment where families can receive sensitive, specialist support from the maternity team. It will also support families during pregnancies following a previous loss.
Mike’s fundraising will help bring the plans closer to reality, supporting the team’s work to provide compassionate care for families at an incredibly difficult time.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Mike for taking on his first marathon and raising more than £600 for the Willow Tree Hub Appeal.
Every donation helps us get closer to creating this dedicated space at Warrington Hospital, where families can access the privacy, comfort and support they need. We’re grateful to Mike for choosing to support this important project and helping us make it happen.
