Breast Screening Team step out for patients at Widnes parkrun
Thursday 16 July 2026
13 breast screening colleagues will be putting their best foot forward this July as they take on a 5k parkrun in support of WHH Charity.
Staff from the Warrington, Halton, St Helens and Knowsley Breast Screening Service will gather at Victoria Park in Widnes on Saturday 25 July to complete the community 5k challenge.
Their fundraising will support breast cancer care across local services, helping WHH Charity fund improvements that go beyond the essentials and make clinical environments feel more comfortable for patients and families.
For the team, the event is not about speed or finish times. It’s about taking part together, raising awareness and turning a Saturday morning parkrun into practical support for the people they care for.
Rachael Martin, mammography assistant practitioner, said: “We wanted to do something that everyone in the team could feel part of. The 5k parkrun gives us the chance to come together outside of work, support each other and raise money for a cause that is very close to what we do every day.
“We see how much the little things matter to patients and families. If the money we raise can help improve treatment spaces or bring extra comfort at a difficult time, then every step will be worth it.”
