Giant Walk – Hale to Hale

Join team WHH for the Giant Walk and take on an inspiring 42km charity challenge that is as scenic as it is rewarding. Every step you take will help us raise vital funds to support patients, families and NHS staff across Warrington and Halton.

What is the Giant Walk?

The Giant Walk is a fully supported 42km lowland marathon from Hale in Merseyside to Hale in Cheshire. The route is largely flat with very little incline, making it an achievable yet meaningful endurance challenge.

Organised by Regenesis Events CIC, specialists in long distance walking events, this unique experience combines beautiful waterside views with a fantastic sense of achievement.

The route

Starting by Hale Lighthouse at the Mersey Estuary, you will walk through the village of Hale, passing the Giant Childe of Hale statue before joining the Mersey Way for the first scenic stretch along the water.

From there, you will follow the Ship Canal before heading onto the sheltered Trans Pennine Trail. Along the way there are planned rest, refreshment and toilet stops, with a lunch break at the halfway point in the picturesque village of Stockton on Heath.

The final leg takes you through Lymm and Dunham before finishing at the Millennium Clock in Hale. Finish times are expected to be around 9 to 10 hours, allowing for rest stops and lunch.

Fully supported every step of the way

This is a supported walk designed to help you succeed. A coach will travel along the route so you can store belongings and access kit, food and water throughout the day. The coach has toilet facilities and will meet walkers at several points. It is also available to transport walkers from the finish back to the start for an additional charge.

For those looking for a shorter option, the 21km Stockton Half begins at the halfway point in Stockton on Heath and completes a half marathon distance in the afternoon. This entry level option is ideal for those new to endurance walking, and teenagers can join from this point.
